RED HEAT HEALTH ALERT – Please Take Care ![]()
A Red Heat Health Alert has been issued, meaning there is a significant risk to health from the extreme temperatures, particularly for older people, young children, pregnant women, and those with long-term health conditions.
Drink plenty of fluids regularly, even if you do not feel thirsty.
Keep your home cool by closing curtains, blinds and windows during the hottest part of the day, and opening windows overnight when it is cooler.
Avoid strenuous activity between 11am and 3pm where possible. Stay in the shade and wear loose, light-coloured clothing.
Check on elderly relatives, neighbours and anyone who may be vulnerable.
Look out for signs of heat exhaustion, including dizziness, headache, excessive sweating, weakness, nausea or confusion.
Call 999 immediately if someone becomes unconscious, has a very high temperature, stops sweating, or shows signs of heatstroke.
