Prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions can be ordered by:

Doctors issue repeat prescriptions for long term medication and indicate when you should come for review. We give repeat medication lasting 28 days, except for the oral contraceptive pill and HRT which last three months.

If you need a repeat prescription, please give as a minimum of 48 hours’ notice.

Subject to necessary reviews we will always provide repeat prescriptions from the practice within two working days. The chemist will also need time to issue your drugs.

Requests for repeat prescriptions are accepted by post, on line or by leaving your request at reception or in our letter box.

You may also ask for your repeat prescription to be collected by an Amesbury or Durrington chemist.

Please note we are unable to accept repeat prescription requests by telephone.

Online Repeat Prescription Service

Alternatively, you may wish to register to manage your repeat medication over the internet. Please contact Reception for more information on how to register for this service. We would need to see some photo ID, e.g. Driving Licence or Passport, we will then be able to give you a username and password to access the service. This service is only available to patients over 16 years of age.

Please note: Due to issues around confidentiality, this service will not be available for children aged 11-15 years. Once a child turns 16 they can register for this service themselves.

If you have a smart phone, you may also wish to download the free NHS/SystmOnline app available on IOS and Android systems. You can book appointments, order repeat prescriptions, check symptoms, view your medical record and more. This is available to patients over 13 years of age and registered with a GP Surgery in England. We still request that we are given 48 working hours to process prescription requests but we hope this will make the process more convenient for you.

The SystmOnline service has been developed and tested using standards set out by a body called NHS connecting for Health. All personal information used by SystmOnline is secure and protected. It is only available to staff at your Practice who have the appropriate security controls.
